Who hasn’t spent hours debating with friends about which character would come out on top in a fight? Today, we’re putting one of the most terrifying and “broken” waifus of recent years under the microscope. That’s right, we’re talking about Makima, the Control Devil from Chainsaw Man. The debate surrounding Makima vs female anime characters is a total classic in the community because, let’s be honest, the woman barely has a clear weakness.

But what happens when we put her up against other girls who are also “final boss” material? We are going to analyze how she would fare against three opponents with very different styles: Esdeath, Himiko Toga, and Francesca Prelati.
Makima’s “Cheat Code”
To understand why it’s so hard to beat Makima, you have to remember her contract with the Prime Minister of Japan. Basically, any damage she receives is transferred to a random Japanese citizen. To kill her, you’d essentially have to wipe out the entire population of Japan first. On top of that, if she feels she is superior to someone, she can automatically control them. It’s that simple, and honestly, that unfair. This is why she dominates Control Devil power scaling—she doesn’t just fight; she dictates the rules.
The Battle of Queens: Makima vs. Esdeath
This is the matchup everyone wants to see. Esdeath (Akame ga Kill!) is the definition of brute force and sadism. She controls ice on a massive scale and has a literal “win button”: Mahapadma, which can freeze time itself.
In a physical encounter, Esdeath would likely tear Makima apart. She could freeze her and shatter her into a million pieces in a heartbeat. However, this is where the contract becomes a nightmare. Makima would simply regenerate while some poor citizen in Tokyo takes the fall. The real danger for Esdeath is psychological. If Makima stays calm (which is her default mode) and begins to view Esdeath as just another “tool” or a soldier, the fight is over. Esdeath is strong, but Makima plays chess with reality.
Madness vs. Control: Makima vs. Himiko Toga
Let’s be real: this fight is more about the hype than a fair match. Himiko Toga (My Hero Academia) is agile, obsessive, and her power to transform after drinking blood is super useful in her own world.
But let’s be blunt: Toga has zero chance here. For Makima, Toga would be like a stray kitten with a knife. The power gap is just too wide. While Toga tries to get close, Makima would only need to say “Bang” or use a single glance to crush her. In any anime girl deathmatch, Toga falls way below the league of high-ranking devils.
The Duel of Illusions: Makima vs. Francesca Prelati
This is where things get interesting for the hardcore fans. Francesca Prelati (Fate/strange Fake) is a master of deception and illusion. She doesn’t fight head-on; she manipulates the environment and people in a poetic, twisted way.
This would be a mental war. Francesca is an expert at not dying and driving her enemies insane. However, Makima has a built-in advantage: she isn’t easily fooled by illusions because her nature as the Control Devil allows her to “see” the hierarchy of beings. Even if Francesca tries to play mind games, Makima is the ultimate predator. If Francesca doesn’t have a specific way to nullify that immortality contract, she’d just end up as another piece in Makima’s collection.
Who is left standing
The reality is that defeating Makima isn’t about who hits the hardest. Most strongest female anime characters rely on physical damage, which is useless against her. You need someone who can attack her soul directly or someone with “hax” that ignores the laws of cause and effect.
What do you think? Does any of these icons have what it takes to find a crack in Makima’s control, or would they all eventually end up as her “dogs”? 🐕 Let me know your theories in the comments and vote!
